Where you can use UPI?

Certainly! The Unified Payments Interface (UPI), developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has expanded its impact beyond national borders. Here’s a list of countries where Indian UPI is accepted:

  1. Bhutan: Became the first country to implement India’s UPI standards for QR code payments in July 2021.
  2. Malaysia: Collaborated with Merchantrade Asia to facilitate UPI remittances to India starting in August 2021.
  3. Nepal: UPI is available in Nepal for both person-to-person (P2P) and person-to-merchant transactions since September 2021.
  4. Sri Lanka: UPI was introduced in Sri Lanka in July 2023 through a network-to-network agreement to improve payment infrastructure.
  5. United Kingdom: Collaborated with TerraPay to provide cross-border payments using UPI between August and September 2022.
  6. Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Switzerland (Europe): Partnered with Worldline to accept Indian payment methods across Europe starting in October 2022.
  7. Oman: Collaborated with the Central Bank of Oman to enable seamless digital transfers through RuPay cards and the UPI platform from October 2022.
  8. United Arab Emirates (UAE): An agreement was made to integrate India’s UPI and the UAE’s Instant Payment Platform (IPP), allowing for more efficient cross-border transactions since July 2023.

These countries have embraced UPI, facilitating seamless cross-border transactions and lowering remittance expenses for users worldwide.
